My Vision for ScoutWithBryan

With the NBA season now over, I’d like to reflect on a few things and talk about where I want to take ScoutWithBryan in the future. If you’ve followed me for a decent amount of the season and really appreciated my content, please give this a few minutes of your time.

If you’re new to my content, check out my Youtube channel or explore my website that is updated with videos, podcasts, articles, etc.

TLDR: I want to build ScoutWithBryan into a go-to platform for in-depth basketball analysis, but I need your help! The best way you can help is by supporting me on Patreon and by sharing my content with your friends, family, and anyone else who wants high-quality basketball analysis.

I started ScoutWithBryan because I felt like there is a lack of nuanced, nitty-gritty basketball coverage on the web today. Lots of the popular commentators dumb things down for the public and focus on click-baity headlines, but the analysis was lacking. As someone who worked in the NBA for 7 years and spent time in the locker room and as part of a coaching staff, I found myself disagreeing with a lot of the “popular” talking points.

I had a feeling that lots of people wanted something more in-depth than they could currently find online. So, I decided to put some in-depth video breakdowns on Youtube to see if people like them, and I’ve been blown away by the support. My most popular video has 125K+ views (and counting!).

Basketball is my passion, and I’m truly humbled by the overwhelming positive feedback I’ve received this past season on my videos, podcast appearances, and scouting breakdowns. I want to continue offering high-quality content and would love to pursue this full-time, but in order to do that, I need your help!

This season, I kept all my content publicly available and free. All that content will remain public and free. I’ve tried to be truthful and forthcoming and ‘mom and pop’-like in my approach. I’ve been accessible. I’ve corresponded with a ton of you, had many many chats, answered as many questions as I can, etc.

You may have seen me asking for support on Patreon in the last few months. More than 120 of you have awesomely shown your support, which I appreciate tremendously. But the fact is as I’ve detailed before that putting out this content is a full time job for me, and especially without health insurance or anything, I need to find a way to make a sustainable income off it. I love Patreon because it lets my supporters chip in with a low monthly amount, and get something extra back from me in return. I recently restructured my tiers on Patreon (if you are currently a patron, your existing plan is in place and your monthly payment has not changed) . You can click here to see them detailed - I have $2, $5, and $10 tiers, each of which get special unique benefits. I also created a $1 tier now where you can contribute just to say thanks.

I have ten million more ideas I’d like to get to as well: doing a Podcast with interviews from coaches and players I’ve intersected with. More analytics-based content. Videos on every elite player in the game. Exploring Twitch and Discord. We’re just getting started.

By supporting me on Patreon, you can help me get there! Here are some of the other benefits to becoming a Patron:

  1. Early access to videos and other premium content

  2. An opportunity to vote on future topics for me to explore

  3. 1 on 1 chats with me

  4. Joining a community of like-minded basketball fans

  5. Periscope chats with me during live sporting events, playoff games, the Draft, etc.

I’ve also heard feedback from those of you who regularly watch my youtube videos that you want me to upgrade my audio equipment. Once I cross 300 patrons, I am committed to upgrading my audio equipment with a high-quality microphone and other equipment. I also pledge to launch a podcast with exciting interviews with NBA coaches, players, celebrities, media, etc. Please help me do that by subscribing today. You can see the goal-tracker on my Patreon homepage to see how close we are. Right now, I’m at 122 patreons. I would love to hit 300, or more, by the end of the summer!

Thank you all for reading and for supporting me thus far. Together, we can build a community of basketball fans who won’t settle for clickbait, talking head garbage, and narratives. I really appreciate your support.

Any questions? Why can’t ads pay for it? Is Patreon reliable? Feel free to DM me on Twitter.
